The LMBR chronograph does not need ambient light, it does not have antennas, it always works and it only needs two 1.5 Volt batteries to work (very low battery consumption).

How the chronograph works:
- Mount the batteries that accompany the device, are two commercial batteries of 1.5 volts, you have to remove the black plastic cover that appears in the lower part of the chronograph, it is fastened with two screws in the corners, remove the two screws, remove the lid, put the two batteries in place following the drawing that appears in the apparatus and close the lid again. Notice how the lid is placed because it has a posture, the two slots should be placed as they come from the house.
- Press the switch that appears on the back of the chronograph, the screen will light up.
- Of the three buttons that appear on the front, above the screen, the one on the left serves to start the program, press it, with the enter the weight loading mode of the projectile. With the other two buttons, indicate the weight of the projectile, one of the buttons goes up and the other goes down. Once you have reached the right weight, press the left button again, in this way the weight of the projectile is fixed and the device is ready for use.
- Shoot through the appliance window with a distance of the fire nozzle (for air guns) of about 12/15 cm. and about 30/40 cm in the case of a 22 LR caliber firearm and greater distance for heavy weapons. The apparatus will give the projectile speed and energy readings in joules directly.

WHAT IS A CHRONOGRAPH ?????
A chronograph is a device that is used to read the speed of the projectiles that we launch with any type of weapon, from a humble slingshot to an Express rifle for big game hunting.
Knowing the speed of the projectiles is useful for many things, but mainly, in the subject that concerns us, to obtain ballistic information of the projectiles fired.
We are going to mention some very frequent uses but there are undoubtedly many others that right now we cannot even imagine.
In rifles or compressed air pistols, chronographs are often used to find out the constancy of the speed of the projectiles fired in such a way that if the readings are very similar and there are hardly any variations between one and another, that is, between the speed of the projectile one shot and the next, and so on in a series of X shots we can see that the weapon has a good valve or a good regulator or a spring in good condition that makes the projectiles all fly at the same or very similar speed. This is the first step for a weapon's accuracy to be good.
If when making a series of shots with an airgun the readings are irregular with large jumps in the velocity of the projectile, we already have a major problem because the rifle will not group correctly. Different speeds of the projectile, very disparate, will cause defects in the grouping of the impacts, this denotes a malfunction of the valve / regulator in a PCP rifle or in the spring and compression system of a piston rifle or any other failure related to this and that can occur in pneumatic rifles (friction, dragging, pieces or broken tires etc.) in any case a defect or fault that must be found and fixed so that the constancy of the shots is adequate again.
The constancy in the speed of the projectiles does not imply perfect precision, at all, but we can say that it is the first and fundamental step for a weapon to be accurate.
The use of one pellet or another, with one shape or another and with one weight or another will provide variations in the speed of the projectile. With the chronograph we can find the pellet that is closest to the ideal speed for the caliber we are using for the sake of maximum precision or for any other purpose. We can say that the chronograph is a magnificent tool that provides us with information that we cannot obtain in any other way, without it we are blind, that is the matter.
In the case of firearms, the chronograph is even more useful than with compressed air weapons since, in addition to the most common functions that we have mentioned above, it will also allow us to check the suitability of the cartridges reloaded by us with respect to the energy, speed and constancy of the same. Well reloaded cartridges will maintain a constant speed, poorly reloaded cartridges will do the opposite. Apart from this, chronographs are used to find out if the cartridges we use are within the legal limits for competition and some other functions that are essential with this type of weapon.
Knowing the speed of the cartridges used in a competition rifle is important because certain barrels are calculated for certain speeds and certain bullets and not others, if cartridges of inappropriate speed are used, precision will suffer a lot. We know very precise weapons that are only accurate at certain speeds and with certain tips, not being within those ranges makes the rifle not work properly.
There are many functions in the LMBR chronograph that help us in our work to know what we have to do to reach our goals with a certain weapon or ammunition, the device calculates Averages, Deviations, etc. of a sampling, that is, a series of statistical data that helps us to know in depth the characteristics of a weapon and its ammunition by reading the effects provided by the chronograph. A well-used LMBR chronograph is a must-have for any shooting and hunting enthusiast.

Buenos días a todos, tal y como sospechaba creo que ya puedo comunicaros con firmeza una estupenda noticia tras varios meses de trabajo e investigación sobre la pesadilla de los cronógrafos balísticos, y es que…… “YA TENEMOS EL CRONO GANADOR”.
Antes de continuar quiero deciros que no podemos conocer a día de hoy el resultado a largo plazo de éstas nuevas tecnologías, o dicho de otro modo, la durabilidad de éstos equipos, pero esto es algo que también nos ocurrió con los CHRONY, CALDWELL, MAGNETO SPEED, STEINERT, etc. Lo importante es que en las pruebas a las que fue sometida esta primer unidad que llegó a mis manos, y posiblemente la primera también en ponerse en circulación en nuestro país, los resultados fueron formidables. Podríamos decir que hemos encontrado un producto que cumple con las tres “B” (bueno, bonito y barato).
El equipo se presenta en un formato bastante discreto de tamaño, es portable en cualquier bolsa de tiro normal. Se trata de un equipo compacto que hace todo el trabajo tal cual viene, sin cables, sin pantallas difusoras, sin abrazaderas ni agarres, “una maravilla”. Todo su armazón es metálico, se ve robusto y bien hecho además de atractivo en su diseño. Podemos ponerlo directamente sobre una mesa o enroscarlo en un trípode convencional para cámara fotográfica. Posee un display retroiluminado que podemos desactivar si lo deseamos, el cual está muy inteligentemente orientado hacia el tirador, por lo cual observaremos las mediciones directamente.
Atendiendo a sus cualidades técnicas observamos:
1.- Un diseño de herradura abierta lo cual nos permite usarlo con armas de aire, armas de fuego, arcos y ballestas.
2.- Sus lectores más anchos que los habituales en los equipos ópticos actuales, nos permiten la suficiente imperfección en los ángulos de disparo para que la lectura sea correcta. De hecho se puenteó con un CHRONY y mientras éste daba sus típicos errores de lectura si la luz del cielo cambiaba o el transito del proyectil no era bastante alineado, el nuevo equipo no dio UN SOLO ERROR DE LECTURA durante la semana que se sometió a pruebas intensivas.
3.- Su polivalencia resulta exquisita. Las pruebas se realizaron con armas cortas y largas de aire, así como cortas y largas también de fuego, aprovechando situaciones extremas para comprobar la capacidad del equipo. Registró perfectamente desde las lecturas más pobres de un arma corta de aire (129m/s), pasando por carabinas PCP de alta potencia, pistolas de 9mm, hasta fusiles con munición casi trisónica, como son la familia 22 de fuego central que trabajan por encima de los 1000m/s), no obstante según el fabricante puede medir hasta 2000m/s.
4.- El equipo no necesita luz, o sea, puede medir disparos en total oscuridad. Se sitúa a poco más de un metro para realizar las mediciones con armas de fuego, (unos cms con las de aire), con lo que lo tenemos perfectamente a mano sin tener que salir al campo de tiro, ni soportar los problemas o imposibilidad de adaptación a distintos tipos de armas como los Magneto speed, los problemas de lectura del Steinert y su display vertical que nos obliga a ir hasta el para comprobar las lecturas, multitud de errores en los ópticos tradicionales, etc.
5.- Su información es más que sobrada: velocidad, velocidad mínima, velocidad máxima, desviación absoluta, desviación standard y como detalle de lujo para los que necesiten fabricar munición para caza o defensa, el equipo nos facilita directamente sin pedírselo la energía en julios y más tarde la energía media de toda la serie analizada. Lógicamente hemos de darle antes el peso del proyectil para que dicho cálculo sea correcto, operación supersencilla. Podemos también repasar disparo por disparo a través de sus botones. Y como guinda final, también nos facilita sin programar nada, la velocidad en pies por segundo, algo muy práctico para los que usan o se referencian con las tablas balísticas más difundidas internacionalmente.
6.- El equipo admite previamente ajustes para entregar su máxima precisión, calibración de lectores, así como para indicarle si vamos a usar armas de aire o de fuego. No obstante he de señalar que con el ajuste de fuego, el crono realizó también las mediciones con aire a la perfección.
7.- El sistema de alimentación también ha resultado una absoluta comodidad, utiliza dos pilas AA que pueden ser alkalinas o recargables.
Antes de relacionaros su nombre y procedencia quiero dejar muy claro un dato; mis 35 años de dedicación a la cartuchería y balística me han obligado a trabajar con un sinfín de armerías en toda España, y también con algunas extranjeras, pero ni debo pleitesía a ninguna ni tengo tampoco animadversión por otras, dicho de otro modo, nadie me favorece por hablar bien o mal de un producto, me ciño exclusivamente a la experiencia, investigación y comprobación de los productos. Hay armerías excelentes, otras mediocres, otras desastrosas y otras de juzgado, pero ese no es mi problema, esto es algo que procuro por todos los medios que no afecte al análisis de cada producto.
El equipo es de procedencia Polaca, ha llegado a nuestro país con la denominación comercial de R2A y ya tenía un antecedente que había dado muy buenos resultados, el R2 dedicado exclusivamente a armas de aire comprimido. Su precio está por debajo de los 200€, con lo que aquello del “bombazo” podéis comprobar que se ha cumplido, y una de las mayores satisfacciones para mi, ha sido que viene importado por uno de esos armeros que me ha demostrado durante todos éstos años su buen hacer, su preocupación porque los deportistas o usuarios de las armas y sus derivados, tengamos todo listo y en el momento que sea preciso, dedicación y esmero en el trato personal, aunque evidentemente no siempre puede salir todo bien y a la perfección, en definitiva, me alegra enormemente que este excelente producto llegue a nosotros de manos de una excelente armería: armasayala.com
